 Educators
and administrators from three school districts provide the curriculum
and programs, which guide Glen Ellyn students along the road to academic
and personal achievement. Eight public grade schools, two parochial grade
schools, and two middle schools prepare students for the rigors of a high
school education. Steeped in tradition and castle-like in its architecture,
Glenbard West High School, along with Glenbard South High School, serve
the teenagers in the community, offering a wide range of college preparatory
coursework, technological and vocational programs, extracurricular activities,
and organized sports. Many high school graduates choose to continue their
education at College of DuPage, located at 22nd Street and Lambert Road
in Glen Ellyn. Set on a 273-acre campus, the community college offers
80 pre-baccalaureate areas of study, 40 occupational and technical degrees,
and continuing education and certification programs. When its time
for research, students head to the recently constructed Glen Ellyn Public
Library, which, in addition to stocking thousands of reference, fiction,
and non-fiction works, schedules a variety of pre-school story times,
an opera lecture series, and book discussion groups.
