Diverse & Established
Some of the nation’s most well-known businesses make their homes in the Greater O’Hare region.
Sears Roebuck and Co. has its headquarters in Hoffman Estates, the campus-like setting for Motorola is in Schaumburg, and UAL Corporation (the holding company of United Airlines) has its main offices in Elk Grove Township. Ranked by revenues, those three are among the 10 largest publicly held companies in the entire Chicago metropolitan area.
Other business leaders include Comdisco in Rosemont; Boise Cascade Office Products Corporation in Itasca; Dominick’s Supermarkets, Inc. in Northlake, owned by supermarket giant Safeway; United Stationers, Inc., in Des Plaines; and Keebler Foods Co. (the second largest cookie and cracker manufacturer in the U.S.) in Elmhurst. Jewel-Osco in Melrose Park ranks in the top of privately owned companies by virtue of its number of employees.
