Hazel Crest, IL

Chamber of Commerce

Mission Statement
To build a stable and strong partnership of business professionals working together to enhance and promote the economic, civic and cultural growth of the Hazel Crest area.

From the President
The Hazel Crest Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization supported by the business community, managed by a board of directors and driven and supported by motivated volunteers and professional staff.

The Hazel Crest Chamber of Commerce partners with local and regional Chambers to protect and enhance a healthy business environment for the benefit of our members and the community we serve.

Recent achievements include a cooperative effort to retain, attract and create business along the 183rd Street corridor, from Halsted Street to 80th Avenue. Representatives from the towns, cities and chambers of commerce along the corridor have been working diligently to increase and promote the economic development of the corridor.

The Chamber hosted a Fall Business Expo for the Hazel Crest business community. A partnership has been developed with local school districts to adjust current curricula to better prepare our business leaders of the future. Chamber businesses were well-represented during a Regional Chambers Summit which resulted in the identification of key local and regional business-related issues including the need for property tax reform.

These are efforts that affect our businesses and community. Please continue to support your Hazel Crest Chamber of Commerce.

welcomeHazel Crest is a charming community originally settled in the 1870s, named after the area's abundant hazelnut bushes. The village developed around the Illinois Central Railroad; the first 80 acres were platted in 1890. Hazel Crest actually de-annexed itself from the neighboring community of Homewood to become incorporated in 1912. The village government is classified as Trustee-Manager, with trustees, the village president and village clerk serving as elected officials. The village manager is appointed to administer the daily operations of the village.

More than 14,000 residents are proud to live in this diverse suburb of Chicago. A variety of housing choices exist, each offering its own architectural and cultural charm. Although primarily residential, the community provides many opportunities for businesses.
