Hazel Crest Center, Grenoble Square, Fountainbleau and French Village
shopping plazas offer a variety of local shopping choices. The community
is also located in close proximity to three major shopping malls: Lincoln
Mall, River Oaks Center and Orland Square.

Residents
have access to a quality park district offering many year 'round programs,
classes, activities and more than 100 acres of park land for bicycling,
jogging, team sports and picnics. Crestview Pool features one of two
water slides in the area. Lake
Owen offers great fishing, and the new Fitness Center is available year
'round for pursuit of individual fitness goals. Residents also have
access to Cook County forest preserves, walking and bicycle trails,
golf centers and golf courses in neighboring communities.

Hazel Crest has access to a progressive, comprehensive
library offering computer and internet services, enhanced programs for
children and access to more than 250 libraries through the Suburban
Library System.
Hazel Crest community events include: Good Neighbor
and Notable Business Awards, July 4th Festival, National Night Out Against
Crime, Hazlenut Festival, Village Clean Up Day, Holiday Gift for a Family,
and Beautification awards.
Cultural activities and events are provided by numerous
local organizations including the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Illinois
Theatre Center, Park Forest Singers and The World Music Theater.

Children
attend one of four elementary school districts serving the village and
continue their education at one of three high school districts. St.
Anne's school in Hazel Crest offers a parochial education with a Catholic
perspective. Meritor Academy, a private institution, provides another
option for elementary grades. Other parochial and private schools are
located throughout the southland region.
Continuing education is readily available at Prairie
State College or South Suburban College. Governors State University,
a senior institution offering graduate level work, is located in nearby
University Park.

Hazel
Crest residents have access to high-quality health care at South Suburban
Hospital, the village's largest employer. The 305-bed facility provides
24-hour emergency services, and inpatient and outpatient services including
diagnostic, rehabilitation and surgical services. Also, a family birth
center, skilled nursing center and six satellite Family Health Centers
are available.
Health
care support services locally are provided by Apple Home Health Care,
Fitzsimmons Surgical Supply, Nursefinders, Physical Restoration Laboratories
and Physical Therapy/Sports Injury Rehabilitation Services. The Imperial
Nursing Center and other nursing facilities in adjoining communities
offers long-term nursing care.
