Hillside is at the hub of three major expressways. The Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) and the Ronald W. Reagan Tollway (I-88) intersect within the immediate area. Butterfield Road (Route 56) and Roosevelt Road (Route 38) provide additional routes in times of heavy traffic.
These three major highways also permit easy access to the Loop (Chicago’s main business district), Midway Airport and O’Hare International Airport. Good travel days allow a 20-minute drive to reach the Loop and O’Hare.
Metra commuter train service is available in nearby Berkeley, which allows a 27-minute commute to the Loop. Pace commercial bus service offers three bus routes to serve the community.
Hillside is unique in that three large cemeteries form part of the village boundaries. Oak Ridge Cemetery is located on Roosevelt Road; Mt. Carmel and Queen of Heaven Cemeteries are on Wolf Road.
