Since that first subdivision was established in the mid 1950s, real estate in Hoffman Estates has transformed into a market of varied residential living options. Back in the Village’s early years, there was much space and room for development. “Since then, many new subdivisions have been developed in the Village; not only single-family homes, but multi-family complexes also,” explained Marylee Nowak of RE/MAX Suburban. “It is now a sought after area with its numerous developments of mixed styles of housing and price ranges.”
Nowak has been selling real estate in the area for more than three decades and has also been an active resident since her family relocated to Hoffman Estates in 1976. “When my family moved to Hoffman Estates, we were attracted by the generous sized lots in the neighborhoods, the excellent parks and schools, the convenience to shopping, the train and good transportation,” explained Nowak, adding, “Hoffman Estates is attractive, progressive in its development and its residents are friendly and welcoming.”

The housing styles representing early Hoffman Estates were predominantly made up of ranches and some split-level residences, which were sold for less than $20,000. “Today, those same homes have sold for between $202,500 and $283,000,” said Nowak.
The options have certainly diversified from the early ranches and split-level homes, as there are a large variety of home styles to choose from today. Everything from starter condominiums to elegant two-story colonial-style homes are available, complemented by lot sizes varying from less than one quarter of an acre up to as much as three quarters of an acre.
Asking prices are just as varied, with prices ranging from $69,900 to $205,000 for condominiums, $80,000 to $355,000 for town homes and $167,900 to $820,300 for single-family homes. And for those who are not in the market to purchase at this time, there are plenty of rental properties available. Condominiums for rent range from $800 to $1,145 a month, townhomes are going for between $1,000 to $2,300 a month and single-family home rental properties are available from $1,195 to $2,980 a month.

While all of Hoffman Estates is desirable to live in, explained Nowak, some families prefer the open areas and many acres of forest preserves found throughout the Village. For new construction, buyers take advantage of land located in the western area of the Village where there are many developments to choose from, including single-family and town home options.
Whether you are a prospective homebuyer or renter, Hoffman Estates is guaranteed to have something to suit your lifestyle and budget.
