There is no better time than now to be a part of this Village’s business community. Starting out as a spacious residential community, Hoffman Estates did not begin to experience prospering economic development until the 1980s and 1990s with the additions of a new hospital, shopping centers, headquarters of major corporations and contemporary business parks.

Today, an ideal mix of retail, office and light industry make up the flourishing business landscape of Hoffman Estates. The growth in the office and retail sectors has been quite impressive over the last several years in the Village.

The institution of such major North American and Midwest corporate headquarters has placed Hoffman Estates among some of the best places to do business. “Hoffman Estates has developable acreage that draws corporations that want to build corporate headquarters, such as Mori Seiki and Big Kaiser,” stated Linda Scheck, the Village’s Tourism and Business Retention Coordinator. “This kind of development also draws visitors that will visit to train on equipment or view products.”

Such powerhouses as Sears Holdings Corporation, AT&T Midwest, GE Capital Services, Siemens Medical Systems, Claire’s Accessories, Career Education Corporation, Automatic Data Processing and others have all made a home in the thriving Village.

What’s more, in 2007 alone, more than 500,000 square feet of office space was either completed or under construction within the burgeoning Prairie Stone Business Park. Much focus has been placed in this area, recognized as Hoffman Estate’s “Entertainment District.” The Sears Centre Arena, Cabela’s, Poplar Creek Crossing, Prairie Stone Crossing and the proposed Splash H2O Resort & Conference Facility all come together in this modern and innovative development.

The retail industry has also seen a major rejuvenation, thanks to the above developments, along with the major renovations happening within Hoffman Estates’ shopping district along Roselle Road.

More than 16,000 highly educated and dedicated people are employed by over 700 diverse businesses in the Village—a number that is taken from the available 2.8 million-person labor pool located within a one-hour drive of Hoffman Estates. Currently, the Village maintains an unemployment rate below both the state and national average.

The increasing quality of life found in Hoffman Estates is also a huge draw for many businesses and employees. In addition to developing business parks, retail centers and entertainment venues are aspects such as exceptional education, quality housing, a prominent medical center, wide ranging recreational endeavors, a growing arts scene and family-friendly community events.

In addition, the community’s location within the prosperous northwest suburbs, just over 30 miles outside of bustling downtown Chicago, has proven to be one of its most vital assets. Interstate 90 (Jane Addams Tollway), several major state and county highways and proximity to O’Hare International, Schaumburg Regional and DuPage airports comprise the area’s excellent transportation network.
