Old Oak Country Club and Woodbine Golf Course are located in Homer Township, withseveral other outstanding golf courses in nearby communities. The Old Oak course features 18 scenic holes; at the 18-hole Woodbine links, golfers find fully irrigated country club-style bentgrass tees, greens and fairways.

Homer Township youngsters have sporting activities galore to choose from, provided by the Homer Stallions Youth Football and Cheerleading programs, Homer Athletic Club and many other organizations.graphic The Stallions were founded in 1985 as a volunteer organization, serving children ages 7-14 with programs running from August through November.

The Homer Township Public Library boasts a collection of more than 80,000 items including books, 4,000+ periodicals, books on tape, fiction and nonfiction videos, CD-ROMs, microfiche, microfilm, large-print books and more. The library staff, available 65 hours a week, offers patrons of all ages a variety of programs and services: storytime hours, craft classes, volunteer opportunities, reader’s advisory, reference assistance, computers for word processing, outgoing fax service, typewriters and photocopies.

The many civic, service and social organizations welcome new members and volunteers to share interests, socialize, and provide opportunities for people of all ages to "get involved." The Chamber of Commerce has a complete list of local groups and contact names/phone numbers.

The Homer Township Independence Day Parade was initiated in 1999 and isdestined to become an exciting tradition. Held the Saturday before the Fourth of July, the event gathers together localschool bands and organizations showcasing their community pride, and local residents and visitors celebrating the American spirit.

With its close proximity to Chicago, Homer Township residents are just a short drive or train ride away from all of the city’s cultural and entertainment venues, professional sports, boating, Lake Michigan beaches and other outdoor amenities, museums, art galleries, shopping, dining and exciting special events throughout the year.
