State-of-the-art medical facilities are easily within reach in Homer Township. Physicians and specialists of all kinds have established their offices and clinics in the area, making obtaining healthcare in the community easy and convenient.
Silver Cross Hospital, currently located in Joliet, has been named a Top 100 Hospital for six years in a row. The hospital is nearing the end of its construction of a $400 million replacement hospital in New Lenox (scheduled to open February 2012). Outside of the main campus, one of the newest additions to the Homer healthcare community is the Silver Cross Free-Standing Emergency Care Center, housing diagnostic imaging services, serveral physician offices and a 24-hour Emergency Care Center.
Another newer addition is the Loyola Center for Health in Homer Glen. The center offers an assortment of specialists and subspecialists, along with a convenient immediate care center. A few of the center’s clinical specialties include cardiology, chemotherapy, gynecology, hepatology, pain treatment, plastic surgery, speech therapy and sports medicine, among others.
Palos Community Hospital offers the Family Health Center in Homer Glen, which supplies outpatient lab and radiology services as well as walk-in physician care.
On top of these resources, the 695-bed Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn is positioned within a half-hour of the township. The hospital is part of one of the top 10 health systems in the nation and was recognized as a Top Performing Hospital for two years in a row (2007 and 2008).
