1990, The Prime Group acquired nearly 3,000 acres and introduced the concept
of a Master Planned Community, where sound planning determines the appropriate
mix of residential corporate, retail and recreational components.
The retail component includes Huntley Factory Shops, a
Jeffersonian-style mall with over 60 stores. The mall, which opened in
1994 and expanded in 1996, provides for nearly 50 percent of the Villages
annual sales tax revenues.The Huntley Automall opened in 1999 with room
for eight dealerships. It, too, provides substantial tax dollars for the
communitys future growth. Finally, Huntley Village Green, a grocer-anchored
retail center, will round out the retail sector with 600,000+ sq.ft. of
Corporate Park offers 400+ acres of premium sites with tollway frontage
and unobstructed visibility. A championship golf course, currently under
development, is planned to be a Hale Irwin signature course.
The Master Planned Communitys residential component was satisfied by Del Webbs first four-season community. Once completed, Del Webbs Sun City, the popular active adult community, will contain over 6,000 homes with a population of 11,000+ residents. As of November, 1999 more than 500 homes have been sold and occupied.
