Smart Money A solid education begins the day a tyke
takes that first step across the lobby into the teachers classroom.
Hyde Park educators take this charge seriously. As part of the Chicago
Public School system, the goal is to become the premier urban school district
in the country through programs like Mayor Daleys Elementary Book
Club; the cutting-edge Chicago Math and Science Initiative teaching approach;
and The Grow Networks customized reports for parents and educators.
Of the 544 schools from pre-K through 12th grade and 414,396 students
represented by the Chicago School District 299, Hyde Park schools consistently
rank among the best in the district. We are also part of the No Child
Left Behind national funding program and the Chicago Neighborhood Learning
Network. The public school system in Hyde Park offers alternatives like the Murray Language Academy magnet school, where K-8 students learn French, Spanish or Japanese alongside reading, writing and arithmetic. The Kenwood Academy made the pages of U.S. News & World Report as an "outstanding high school" in 1999. Meanwhile, the private Hyde Park Day School extends effective teaching techniques to students with learning disabilities. Parents may also choose private college preparatory schools or Montessori-based facilities such as Ancona School.
