Hyde Park citizens are under the jurisdiction of the Chicago mayor and the 50 aldermen that make up its City Council legislative body. The city boundaries fall into two police jurisdictions: District 3, Area 3 Grand Crossing, which includes Jackson Park (beat 331) and from 75th St.; and District 21, Area 3 Prairie, which covers 61st St. to 47th and Cottage Grove to the Lake. The South East Chicago Commission oversees law enforcement coordination between Chicago and University of Chicago police forces.
