The Village of Itasca’s prime location in the northeast corner of DuPage County affords its residents, visitors and businesses alike easy access in and out of the area. The community is surrounded by Schaumburg, Elk Grove, Wood Dale, Addison, Roselle, Bloomingdale, Bensenville and Glendale Heights. And one cannot forget to mention its close proximity to Chicago’s Loop. Its optimal locale provides available means of transport through a handful of roadways, two international airports, and rail and bus lines.
Itasca is situated along the major east-west thoroughfare of Interstate 290, linking drivers to Interstate 90, Interstate 355, Interstate 294 and Illinois Route 53, among other roadways. Each of these connect commuters to a number of additional highways and cities across the nation. Interstate 90, quickly accessible by Interstate 290 from Itasca, is the longest interstate highway in the country, spanning 3,100 miles from Seattle, Washington to Boston, Massachusetts. Interstate 355 runs from I-290 to I-55, a major north-south thoroughfare traveling between Chicago and Louisiana, while also allowing access to I-88. Interstate 80 is reachable by I-294, connecting commuters to I-57, which runs from Chicago to Missouri.
Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport is a mere 10 miles from Itasca, attainable by I-90, while Midway International Airport is positioned around 29 miles southeast of the village. Each airport serves a significant portion of the country’s air travel traffic. In fact, 56 passenger carriers functioning through 178 gates transported more than 76.5 million passengers from O’Hare in 2006. O’Hare was awarded the Global Traveler Award for Best Airport in North America in January of 2007, while Midway received the 2004 Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Public Innovator Award for Physical Design.
The Itasca Metra Station, located at Irving Park Road (Route 19) and Maple Street, is served by the Milwaukee District West Line, linking the community to Union Station in downtown Chicago and several stops in between. Train commuters also have access to three Amtrak stations within 17 miles, with stations at La Grange Road, Naperville and Glenview.
Pace Route 616 – The Chancellory Connection offers service to Northwest Point Park-n-Ride, the Westin Hotel, the Itasca Metra Station, Spring Lake Business Park, the National Safety Council and the Chancellory. The route also provides express rush hour service via the Northwest Tollway and Arlington Heights Road, offering a link with the Rosemont CTA Blue Line Station and Itasca.
With all of these modes of transportation made available, Itasca has not only become a superior community to live or visit, but also continues to attract more diverse business ventures.
A Reminder from Exdents Collision Repair:
Making good choices on the road
is pivotal in preventing accidents. Follow these steps to not only ensure the safety of you and your passengers, but also the safety of fellow drivers on the road:
• Avoid driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
• Do not drive when drowsy. Be sure to get enough sleep the night before and take breaks if driving long-distance.
• Use extreme caution in driving through rain, snow, sleet and other poor weather conditions.
• Be aware of your surroundings and watch for common road hazards, such as potholes or animal crossings.
• Avoid common distractions, including cell phone usage and eating or drinking while driving.
• Finally, make sure to wear your seatbelt correctly at all times. Should an accident occur, a seat- belt is likely to save lives and prevent extreme injury to those riding in the car
