Residents also have access to numerous non-traditional healthcare professionals who provide services including chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, and holistic medicine.
Joliet residents are fortunate to have access to two outstanding medical institutions committed to improving the health of the community, Silver Cross Hospital and Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Several reputable nursing homes are also available in the immediate area.
SILVER CROSS HOSPITAL
Founded in 1895, Silver Cross has evolved from a 33-bed not-for-profit hospital into a world-class healthcare network serving the greater Joliet area with over 400 physicians, 1,600 employees, and more than 550 volunteers.
Silver Cross Hospital is currently licensed for 297 beds, and is home to an emergency department designated as a Level II Trauma Center, a state-of-the-art birthing center, a new Specialty Care Pavilion with an innovative cardiovascular institute, and is the largest provider of dialysis services in Will and Grundy counties.
Partnerships with Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch, and Parkview Musculoskeletal Institute have expanded Silver Cross services to the community. Silver Cross Hospital offers expert and convenient diagnostic testing and treatment in a variety of specialty care areas. Many of these services are available on an inpatient and outpatient basis including cardiovascular care, home healthcare, physical rehabilitation, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, dialysis, behavioral health services, maternal and child care, surgery, emergency care, wound and continence care, and intensive care.
Over the last decade, Silver Cross has invested over $230 million in new facilities and technology including the Specialty Care Pavilion, home of the LaVerne and Dorothy Brown Cardiovascular Institute. The Institute is unique in that it represents the largest single cardiology medical presence in Will County, providing patients with one convenient location and timely service for all of their cardiac needs.
The hospital redesigned its John and Hazel Francis Pavilion entrance to enable patients to drive right up under a canopy and immediately be assisted. Its entrance features a glass atrium, staffed information desk, modern waiting area, and convenient access to the Henry Sehring Dining Room.
Silver Cross has recently opened its Center of Excellence in Neurosurgery, the Children’s Outpatient Services unit and completed a pavilion for both in-patient and out-patient units, an out-patient diagnostic and treatment center, a new registration area and lobby, and a new 12-station dialysis unit.
