Aurora University

Four higher education facilities lie within the boundaries of Kane County, while two universities are situated in neighboring communities.

Aurora University was established in 1893 and currently boasts a combined enrollment of more than 4,300 undergraduate and graduate students between its main campus in Aurora and its campus near Lake Geneva in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. This four-year independent institution provides a wide range of degrees, more than 40 student organizations, 18 intercollegiate teams and much more. Undergraduates are able to obtain a Bachelor of Arts, Science, Science in Nursing or Social Work degree, while graduate students can receive a master’s degree in Business, Recreation, Education or Social Work. Aurora University also offers a chance to receive a doctorate degree in Education.

Judson College is a private four-year evangelical Christian college located in Elgin. With over 1,200 traditional students, Judson College offers more than 60 majors, minors and concentrations. Graduate students can seek their master’s degree in either Architecture or Education, as well.

Waubonsee Community College is a two-year institution, offering three excellent campuses in the area—the main campus in Sugar Grove, the Aurora campus and the Copley campus located on the Rush-Copley Medical Center campus. Waubonsee Community College also offers around 40 extension sites in other locales.

Elgin Community College provides education to those students hoping to obtain their associate’s degree and/or transfer to a four-year college and university. This two-year institution serves all those residing in District 509 and offers a number of academic programs, more than 30 student clubs and organizations and 12 intercollegiate sports.

Nearby four-year universities include Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and the National-Louis University campus in Elgin. Training facilities are also available in the area through the Illinois Employment and Training Center (IETC). Facilities are located in Elgin, North Aurora and nearby DeKalb.
