More than 45 public school districts serve students from kindergarten through secondary level education in Lake County. Several of these award-winning districts have been nationally recognized for excellence in education, placing them among the best school districts in Illinois. In addition, two charter schools and two alternative schools can be found through the public school system in the county. For those interested in private schooling, numerous private and parochial elementary and secondary schools can be located in many of the county’s communities.
