Lake County’s assortment of retail venues and dining establishments is impressive. Large retail centers, charming shopping districts and neighborhood plazas are intermixed with a wide variety of restaurants sure to please even the pickiest eater. Diners can choose from casual eateries and fast-food places, family-style restaurants or fine dining establishments, all of which offer a distinct menu ranging from American classics to ethnic infused dishes.

No shopping experience in Lake County is complete without a visit to Gurnee Mills, the second largest tourist attraction in Illinois. Located at the intersection of I-94 and Grand Avenue (IL 132), Gurnee Mills attracts approximately 23 million shoppers each year to browse through the more than 200 various retailers that line its walls.

Take a trip to Long Grove where shoppers will find an open-air shopping district that showcases more than 80 specialty shops, galleries and restaurants—all set within historic structures and along cobblestone sidewalks.

Antiquers take pleasure in the bountiful offerings at the 24,000- square-foot Gurnee Antique Center, which houses around 200 unique dealers, and the great Historic Volo Country Village. This 30-acre antique theme site, anchored by the Volo Auto Museum, is comprised of five separate malls featuring antiques, gift items and one-of-a-kind collectibles.

Also be sure to check out CityPark in Lincolnshire and the downtown Main Streets in Libertyville, Mundelein and Waukegan. These areas are lined with quaint boutiques, professional services and delicious restaurants, while also offering plenty of options for entertainment in the way of cinemas and annual events.
