Known as the “Heart of the Chain O’ Lakes,” Fox Lake has long been a popular destination for fishing, hunting and boating enthusiasts, as well as vacationers.

With a rich history as a resort and recreation site, Fox Lake’s summer cottages and small resorts continue to be replaced by permanent residences.

FOX LAKE HILLS

A population of over 2,500 make up Fox Lake Hills, which sits 46 miles from Milwaukee and 50 miles from Chicago.

The community is home to Lake Villa Township Park, also known as Caboose Park, comprised of a real Soo Line train caboose, a vast children’s play area, three pavilions, a volleyball and horseshoe court, two tennis courts, three baseball fields, a football field, a basketball area and a hill for sledding.

FOX RIVER VALLEY GARDENS

The small community of around 800 is surrounded by the communities of Island Lake, Lake Barrington and Tower Lakes, and is within reach of Chicago in 45 miles. In 2005, the estimated median home value in the area was $233,100.

GAGES LAKE

Currently 11,200 residents are located in Gages Lake, a suburban community that enjoys quiet residential living with the full conveniences of a large city. The area is the site of Highland Memorial Park, along with Valley Lake, Twin Lakes and Gages Lake.

GRANDWOOD PARK

Only 44 miles from Chicago, Grandwood Park boasts a populace of more than 4,500. Adding to the small community’s recreational offerings is the Park District of Grandwood Park, providing a handful of diverse programs through the summer and fall months.
