Lake Barrington, located under 40 miles from Chicago’s Loop, is within reach of major roadways including State Routes 22 and 59, River Road and Kelsey Road, with a short drive to Interstate 90.

LAKE VILLA

One of the older communities in Lake County, with incorporation established in 1901, Lake Villa is equipped with an adequate amount of lakes for water recreation, three parks — Lehmann Park, Steven Sherwood Memorial Park and Glacier Park — and sits along the Grant Woods Forest Preserve, offering a site for walking trails. Three elementary schools are part of the Lake Villa Consolidated Community District #41, with high school students enrolling at either Antioch Community District #117 or Grayslake Community District #127. LAKE ZURICH

The village of Lake Zurich sits in the southwestern section of Lake County, bordering North Barrington to the west, Deer Park to the south, Kildeer to the southeast and east and Hawthorn Woods to the north. Named as one of the “Best Places to Raise Your Family” by Frommer’s Travel Guides, Lake Zurich has enjoyed major economic growth over the years, now home to major employers such as Osram/Sylvania, Echo Inc. and Bergen-Brunswig. Serving nearly 6,300 students, the Lake Zurich Unit District #95 is made up of five elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. LAKEMOOR

Straddling Lake and McHenry Counties, Lakemoor encompasses nearly 1,000 residents and enjoys ample recreation from the flowing Fox River and four state parks, as well as six county conservation areas in nearby communities. Both U.S. Route 12 and State Route 120 travel through Lakemoor, which is approximately 38 miles from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and 53 miles from Mitchell Field in Milwaukee. www.lakemoor.net

LINDENHURST

An easy commute to both Chicago and Milwaukee is made possible by Interstate 94, reachable within 10 minutes of Lindenhurst, a growing community of over 12,500. Businesses continue to move into Lindenhurst, with commercial development readily available along Grand Avenue and U.S. Route 45. Recreational endeavors can be found at 18 local parks or the forest preserve area encompassing the village.
