From Sleepy Town to Bustling Community
Lake in the Hills was once a sleepy little community with farms dotting the surrounding landscape. Paved streets and major thoroughfares now mask the dirt roads and quieter times. Much of the community's early growth was a result of summer visitors from Chicago who, after maintaining summer homes, decided to settle permanently in Lake in the Hills.
The area's natural beauty, country ambiance and abundance of recreational opportunities attract people to this day. As Lake in the Hills grows in population, its history and charm are well preserved in order to provide residents with the conveniences and services of today along with the hometown character of yesterday.
