For a town of its size, Lake Zurich has an impressive array of businesses in the area, and as business owners relate, the people of Lake Zurich constitute the main reason for that. As the community continues to grow, that rapport within it remains, and the businesses as well as the people behind them all thrive as a result.

Lindberg Automotive, 20818 N. Rand Road, Lake Zurich, has only recently taken on its current name, but the business and its owners have had ties to Lake Zurich for decades. Doug Lindberg began working in McHenry, but in 1986, he moved the business to Lake Zurich. “He grew up here,” said Patricia, Doug’s wife and co-owner of the store, “and this was home.”

Previously, Doug and his crew worked primarily on Corvettes, but over time, he began to draw in business on all types of cars. “It’s still a specialty area for us,” relates Patricia, “but now we do all types of cars and we’re able to fix all the types of cars of the people that live in our area. Instead most of our client-base being people that drove from Chicago to come to find us, now our neighbors from across the street can come by, too.”

Garnering business closer to home has proven not only a positive for the business, but personally for the Lindbergs too. “It’s been really nice for us, too,” says Patricia, “because our customers have become our friends.”

Dunkin Donuts owner Jay Patel also appreciates the chance to continue to do business in the Lake Zurich area. He already owns six stores in a 10-mile radius and is currently looking to open a new store in the area besides the location he has had in Lake Zurich since 1996. In return for consistently offering quality food and a high level of service, he has seen the community respond with regular and welcoming business.

Touching on another need for Lake Zurich besides auto repair and sustenance, the Athlete’s Factory (formerly Lakeside Family Sports Complex) was established in the community in early 2008. The need for such a facility was great, and in response, a large athletic facility was opened, featuring entertainment possibilities for people of all ages. In such a short time, Athlete’s Factory has already drawn in partnerships with baseball teams from Lake Zurich, Buffalo Grove, Barrington, Mundelein and a host of traveling organizations, helping with anything from tryouts to Picture Day. Their highly trained staff has allowed them to offer jazzercise, baseball, bocce ball, yoga, martial arts and all kinds of athletic activity in between, always with an eye to collaborate with any other professionals looking for a space to operate.

Since the community has responded so well to its offerings so far, the Athlete’s Factory will likely get to serve the community for quite some time to come.

Growth seems to be just another given of Lake Zurich’s business landscape, but it is only so because of openness of its residents to embrace new businesses, and more importantly, new people into the community. Lake Zurich has its set of natural resources, but the greatest asset, from a financial or personal perspective, remains its people, and with them, continued growth can and should seem welcome and inevitable.
