Worship

The exciting community of Alpine Chapel was founded in 1981 by a group of like-minded Lake County Christians. Though the nondenominational congregation had a relatively small beginning— 60 people attended the inaugural meeting held October 17, 1982, at Seth Paine Elementary School in Lake Zurich—the fellowship has since grown exponentially.

In order to meet the ever-increasing size of the religious community, the founders purchased 17 acres of land at Miller and Echo Lake Roads. Through the years, numerous expansions have increased the size of the original 10,000-square-foot building to a complex of more than 40,000 square feet. In addition to the church, the Alpine Chapel facilities include classrooms for children and adults, administrative offices, an auditorium and a gymnasium. Noah’s Ark nursery is available for Alpine’s Sunday services and for many special events.

Alpine Chapel has two Sunday services (9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.) where the congregation prays, sings, learns and worships together. Communion is celebrated the first Sunday of every month. But this is not the only aspect of the fellowship, as numerous ministries and programs are offered through Alpine Chapel, setting the religious organization apart from its contemporaries.

Welcoming parishioners of all ages
are the following faith-based programs:

• The Adventure Village program offers children the chance to grow closer to God through learning about different locations. The program includes a “passport/boarding pass” that monitors the children’s progress in a fun and educational way.
• The AWANA program is another fun way for the children of Alpine Chapel to learn more about the teachings of Jesus Christ. Every Tuesday night during the school year, children from kindergarten to sixth grade strengthen their connection to God by playing games, singing songs and completing activities in the AWANA handbook.
• At Alpine Chapel, children and their parents are encouraged to experience the rewards of community service every quarter through the Project Serve program. Warm weather service opportunities include yard work around the Alpine Chapel grounds and at the homes of members of the congregation. Christmas service activities include caroling and creating gift boxes for the needy around the world.
• During the summer months, children have a variety of programs from which to choose. The 2008 Kid Zone Summer Day Camps included baseball/softball, basketball, fine arts, S.C.U.B.A. and theatrical arts.
• Generation 11 is Alpine Chapel’s ministry for those members of the community who are high school students. The motto of Gen 11 is “Obedience is the new rebellion.” The group’s goal is to continue the work of Jesus Christ’s 11 faithful apostles.
• The Real Faith program meets every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel’s Dante’s Cafe, which is located in the lower level of the church building. The group discusses Scriptural truths found in everyday popular culture.
• The Read Life program meets every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Topics vary from week to week but always focus on personal spirituality and a Christ-centered worldview.
• The Alpine Institute offers adult education classes that cover a wide range of topics. Courses have included “The 10 Commandments of Parenting,” “Baptism Classes,” “Deep Divers,” “Connect 101,” “Grow 201,” “Serve 301” and “Share 401.”
• Alpine Growth Groups meet at different locations throughout southern Lake County and give adult members of the community an opportunity to cultivate friendships while strengthening their commitment to Christ.

The Women’s Ministry has several groups
from which to choose.

• In the Chocolate Book Club, ladies meet in Dante’s Cafe to discuss the current book while eating chocolate!
• The members of Mothers of Preschoolers, or MOPS, celebrate faith and motherhood. The group meets in the morning on the first and third Thursdays of the month from September to May.
• For those mothers who cannot attend the morning MOPS sessions, MOPs@night meets Thursday evenings, also from September to May.
• Oasis AM and Oasis PM are women bible studies.

There are also many activities
and ministries for men.

• The Quest for Authentic Manhood explores biblical masculinity and how its ideals can be achieved today.
• Promise Keepers is an annual event that helps men better understand their roles in society.
• Spiritual Growth is the men’s weekly bible study and discussion group.
• Hoops@night is a high school-aged and older male basketball group.
• Those in Alpine’s Handyman Connection serve God by serving the community through hard work.

Alpine Chapel’s missions are not confined to Illinois, though. In fact, their presence extends even beyond the United States. Alpine Chapel missionaries are found all across the globe. Members of the Alpine Chapel community are found in Ethiopia, Japan, Nigeria, France, Costa Rica, Romania, Switzerland, the Dominican Republic and Papua New Guinea!

While in Lake Zurich, be sure to stop by Alpine Chapel. You will see firsthand why it is “a growing church community where God’s love changes lives and develops committed followers of Jesus Christ.”
