Lake Zurich and the surrounding suburbs are an attractive location for a variety of different businesses. There are many reasons people choose to set up shop in the area, and here local businesses share their thoughts on what makes the Village such a great place to be located—or simply to do business with.
Neal Kaplan from Fireplaces Plus says that although they are located in nearby Vernon Hills, they do a lot of business with people from the Lake Zurich area. “There is a lot of growth there,” says Kaplan, pointing out new construction in the nearby Kildeer and Hawthorn Woods areas.
The Magil Corporation works in the elevator industry and has been moving into the residential market in addition to their already well-established commercial interests. Marketing Director Joe Salzburg says that the company relocated in Lake Zurich because a good space became available, and that the bloom of new building in the area has helped them expand and serve their local market as well.
Timothy Grant Siefert jumped at the chance to move his business to a larger location in Lake Zurich when it became available. As the owner of Timothy Grant Jewelry, Ltd. he says that the new space has given him room to significantly expand his inventory. Siefert affectionately refers to Lake Zurich as a “big small town” and has been very involved in community business affairs—even having served as President of the Chamber of Commerce.
“Part of our mission is to be a part of the community and give back,” says York Furrier co-owner Kathy Rezny. The company has been at their Deer Park location since 2004, and Rezny says, “We love the area and have many clients here, so we wanted to make shopping convenient for them.”
Randy Looke, owner of Sound & Video Consultants, loves his location too. Located in Deer Park, his store draws business from Lake Zurich as well as the other local suburbs. Looke says, “I’m on Route 12 and between the mall in Deer Park and all the other stores in the area—you can’t beat the location for buying traffic.”
“Lake Zurich is full of friendly people, and there is a lot of growth in the area,” says Dunkin’ Donuts General Manager Suresh Patel. Business has been good to this family-run location and they try to keep selections interesting for their faithful customers by introducing new menu items on a regular basis. The store remodeled about six years ago, expanding so they could better serve their clientele.
Sandra Grieco of DMR Plumbing, Inc. describes Lake Zurich as “a very family-oriented place,” and she should know—she lives in the community. The company does both commercial and residential work in a variety of places, and she loves the location saying, “We are very happy here.”
Business owners from other areas also enjoy working with the people from the Lake Zurich area and developing clientele there. Brad Robbin is the owner of Persin and Robbin Jewelers, and he says, “Although we aren’t local, we find that the people who work with us become our loyal customers.” To Robbin, being in Arlington Heights is not an issue, and he says, “It is the relationships in this business that are most important.”
Building those relationships was also highlighted by Ray Westman, owner of Verlo Mattress Factory Stores of Chicagoland. He has seen a lot of growth in the Lake Zurich area and is reaching out to area residents to let them know his company is around. George Schaaf, Jr., owner of Schaaf Window Co., Inc. also says they are hoping to expand their presence in the area and be a part of the growth in the community.
Casten Body Shop is a family-owned business and has had
a location in Lake Zurich for the past 12 years. President Christine Rowe says, “We were excited to bring our years of experience to an area that is having a lot of growth and one that needed a quality auto repair facility. Lake Zurich has been a great place for us to continue to grow our business.”
Growth truly seems to be the main theme that arises when talking to businesses in the Lake Zurich area. As the Village and surrounding suburbs continue to expand, more and more businesses are delighted to find themselves evolving and growing right along with the communities they serve.
