A mayor/council form of government effectively and efficiently serves the needs of Lemont’s approximately 13,000 residents. Lemont’s village government consists of a Mayor, six Village Trustees, and a Village Clerk. The day-to-day activities of the Village are professionally managed by an appointed Village Administrator and approximately 112 full and part-time employees.

The Village government offices are headquartered in a historic limestone building in the Historic District in downtown Lemont.

The goal of Lemont government is to ensure the highest standards of health, safety and welfare for those who live, conduct business, or visit the community. Centrally located Police Department and Fire Stations are located within the Village boundaries.

The Village’s utility operations provide the stability required for home, business and industries. Other Lemont village operations such as Public Works, Engineering, Economic and Community Development, all take great pride in planning, constructing and maintaining the Village infrastructure.

The government in the Village of Lemont has a clear notion of its small town heritage, but an equally clear vision of the exciting future and operates with the well-being of all its citizens in mind.
