

Downtown Lockport has a Historic District that is part of the 120-mile Illinois & Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor. The corridor extends the length of the canal, and is part of the U.S. National Park System. It contains a bird sanctuary and side trails that are used for jogging, hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing. The length of this corridor extends as far as Lake Michigan. This Historic District is bounded by the canal, 7th Street, Washington Street and 11th Street. It offers 37 historic sites and structures.
