Lockport is proud of its rich cultural identity, providing residents with year-round entertainment. The Lockport Gallery is an Illinois State Museum branch site that features changing exhibitions of art created by past and contemporary Illinois artists and artisans. Educational and interpretive events, tours and outreach activities are also offered. The Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet provides a venue for a variety of nationally-renown concerts, plays, entertainers and dance productions. This historic theater has been restored to its classic brilliance, and can seat nearly 2,000. The Des Plaines Valley Public Library also hosts a variety of special interest and cultural events programs throughout the year. These programs are well suited to specific tastes among all age groups, from children’s readings to seniors’ activities.
