Business is thriving in Lockport. Its ideal location and convenient access to major expressways, airports and Chicago contribute to its strong and thriving business community. Lockport boasts a highly skilled labor force, and specialized business training programs are available at local colleges. There are two major industrial parks in Lockport — one is along Canal Street and the other on New Avenue. There is also business and industrial development along the I-355 corridor.

The Lockport Chamber of Commerce is a well-established organization that promotes business development and networking opportunities. It also acts as a liaison between businesses and local officials, financial groups and various associations in Lockport in a continuing effort to enhance the quality of life for residents. Major commercial employers in the area include: CITGO, a refining company, with 650 employees; Wal-Mart, a supercenter, with 350 employees; Freedom Imaging Systems, a commercial printer, with 140 employees; Panduit Corporation, a manufacturer of electronic components, with 75 employees; and Walco Tool & Engineering Corporation, with 72 employees. Other major employers include Kinetic Systems, Sonoco Plasti-Drum, Paramount Plastics and Material Service.
