Take a step back in history at the Manteno Historical Society Museum, located within the Society’s headquarters in the Charles Skinner House.

The Museum opened in 1994 and features an array of historical items depicting Manteno’s rich heritage.

Browse through three floors of exhibits, with highlights including the Physician and Pharmacy Display and the War Veterans Display. Also located on the Museum grounds are a restored buggy owned by Dr. Zephirin Routeau and the one-room Bloom School House.

Agri-tourism is a popular new trend in Manteno and the entirety of Kankakee County. Patrons are allowed to experience life on the farm, as well as to participate in an abundance of agricultural-related activities through the auspices of local farmers.

Manteno also offers a calendar year of community events, with perhaps the most popular being the Oktoberfest celebration. This event is fun for the entire family.
