contentsManteno IL Chamberads

Manteno is fortunate to be equipped with a progressive governing body exuding excellence in leadership. Members of the Village Board of Trustees include the mayor (acting as president) and a legislative body comprised of six trustees. Each member of the Board, as well as the village clerk, is elected at-large to a four-year term of service. The Village Board of Trustees appoints members of the Planning Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, Police Commission, Police Pension Fund and Zoning Board of Appeals. In addition, members adopt Ordinance and Resolutions, which ultimately become Village law.

Regular Village Board meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of each month in Village Hall. Manteno residents are welcomed and encouraged to attend these public meetings.

Public safety is assured through the Manteno Police Department and the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, as well as the Manteno Fire Department. The Fire Department works out of two stations in the area, serving approximately 10,000 people in a 96-square-mile area.
