For over 50 years, Heartland Regional Medical Center has been a hometown healthcare provider with strong community roots and a continued promise to provide high-quality, accessible and compassionate care that meets the needs of the community today and in the future. And while this is still true, a new administration team with a number of progressive initiatives has upped the ante in southern Illinois. The first initiative that was recently implemented was the 30-Minute ER Service Pledge, which strives to get every patient in the Emergency Department through the door and in to see a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner in 30 minutes or less. In order to deliver on this service, the entire hospital had to implement new processes and procedures to ensure that patients receive the highest quality and most expedient care in the region. Every patient that visits the emergency room at Heartland Regional goes through triage, and the most severe patients are seen first.

In September 2011, the hospital broke ground on a massive ICU expansion. Once the new ICU is completed in early fall 2012, Heartland Regional will offer an 18-bed ICU unit to better serve the needs of the community. In the past, people would have had to travel to St. Louis or Chicago to receive the quality of care that an ICU of this size affords. Because of that fact, Heartland is extremely excited and proud to bring this expanded service to Marion and the surrounding community.

Heartland Regional continues its tradition of investing in the latest technologies and medical innovations, specialty services, quality physicians and skilled, compassionate staff. The hospital has over 570 employees and over 100 physicians in 31 specialties, including diagnostic imaging, inpatient and outpatient surgical services and physical therapy. Heartland Regional delivers approximately 1,000 babies every year and is proud to boast a cardiology group, River to River, that is second-to-none.

Heartland Regional

At River to River Heart Group, thousands of patients have entrusted their hearts to our skilled physicians, and for good reason. Together, these cardiologists have devoted more than 75 years to caring for hearts and improving the quality of life for their patients. They offer all the advantages of minimally invasive techniques that can mean less pain and faster recovery.

At Heartland Regional, the commitment to the community has never been greater, investing $72,502,981 in southern Illinois in 2011 through sponsorships, donations, uncompensated care and capital investments, to name a few, as we continue to promote medical advancements, support clinical excellence and bring new medical practices from the industry front lines back home.
