St. James Hospital & Health Centers is a leading healthcare provider in the area. The system, with beginnings nearly 100 years ago as a 50-bed hospital, is now comprised of two hospital campuses—one in Olympia Fields and the other in Chicago Heights. St. James also operates several convenient outpatient centers throughout the south suburbs, as well as the St. James Surgery Center in Chicago Heights.
The Olympia Fields campus houses several renowned centers of excellence, including the Center for Bariatric Surgery; the Patricia A. Joyce Comprehensive Cancer Institute (CCI), an approved Teaching Hospital Cancer Program; and the Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI), which has been ranked as one of the Solucient Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals two years in a row. The Chicago Heights campus is also equipped with exceptional programs through the Center for Diabetes, Center for Rehabilitative Medicine and the Sleep Disorders Lab. In addition to these centers, each hospital is home to a Joint Center, 24/7 Emergency centers, Occupational and Environmental Health centers, and diagnostic imaging services.
Ingalls Health System is also a major medical resource, through the 563-bed Ingalls Memorial Hospital—named one of “America’s Best Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report for seven consecutive years in the field of Neurosciences—situated just minutes away in Harvey, along with a network of convenient outpatient centers. Ingalls Family Care Center in nearby Flossmoor is a comprehensive outpatient campus featuring a 24/7/365 Urgent Aid, which is a low-level emergency room that can accommodate most of a family’s timely medical needs. This facility includes extensive orthopedics services, a pain clinic, physical therapy, a sleep center, a pharmacy, a diabetes center and more. Matteson is home to an Ingalls Family Care Center offering physician offices, diagnostic imaging and laboratory services.
Supplementing these expansive healthcare systems is an array of physicians and specialists representing virtually all fields of medicine. Family and internal medicine, dentistry, optometry, rehabilitation, oncology, chiropractic, home health, and additional medical concentrations can all be found in the Matteson area.
