Students are afforded one newly remodeled middle school, Mattoon Middle School, and one newly renovated high school, Mattoon High School. The Armstrong Center, a school meeting the special needs of students in the area, is located in Hawthorne Elementary.
For those in search of a private education, two parochial schools are available—St. John’s Lutheran School and St. Mary Elementary School.
