Shopping in Mattoon offers a range of clothing, jewelry and specialty items. Along with these shops, one can find a number of diverse restaurants and entertainment venues. Cross County Mall, two strip malls, shopping centers and several antique dealers and specialty shops line the streets of the community.
The Cross County Mall, positioned on the east side of Mattoon at 700 Broadway East, is equipped with more than 30 stores, anchored by JC Penney and Sears. The mall is host to numerous family-fun activities and events all year, including the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, arts and crafts shows, a lawn and garden show, the annual farm show, collectibles weekend, the annual new car show and the Cub Scouts’ Pinewood Derby event. This shopping district is also home to Wal-Mart, Mattoon Market Place, Home Depot and Staples. Situated 25 miles north is the Tanger Outlet Mall in Tuscola.
The largest scrapbooking store in the central Illinois region is situated in Mattoon at the Daisy Lane Scrapbooking and Craft Mall at 2619 Lake Land Boulevard. The Good Neighbor Shopping Center sits on the south side of the community and houses a vast array of retail and service stores. Additionally, several antique and specialty shops have established themselves in Mattoon.
