Mattoon Chamber Welcome
On behalf of the Mattoon Chamber of Commerce and the City of Mattoon Tourism, we would like to welcome you and thank you for your interest in our community.
We have prepared this publication to offer you a glimpse of Mattoon, the city we call home. You will find a common thread of commitment and pride as you explore the Mattoon area. You will see it in the dedicated workforce, pride of ownership, and in the leadership of our city and schools, but most of all, you will see it in the faces of the many generations who have chosen Mattoon as their home. Mattoon is their location of choice to work, play and raise a family.
Throughout the years, Mattoon has continued to be both a final destination and a stopping point. A vibrant business community provides the backdrop for encouraging new commerce and industry. We are proud to be the home of one of the top-ranked community colleges in the United States, Lake Land College, while being the hostess to a melting pot of industry (i.e., R.R. Donnelley, G.E., Kal-Kan, Lender’s Bagles, Consolidated Communication of Mattoon, Illinois). Mattoon enjoys many parks and recreational areas, as well as newly constructed/renovated schools that we are proud to have our children attend. Over 45 churches of all denominations and a vast array of clubs and organizations call Mattoon home. Yes, we have reason to be proud of our community! We welcome new business and families to enjoy what we do every day!
