Location and Transportation

Located almost half-way between the metro cities of Chicago and St. Louis, McLean County is a hub of transportation venues. With interstates I-55, I-74, I-39 and Hwy 51 intersecting at Bloomington/Normal in the center of McLean County the area is a great location for shipping industries. The Central Illinois Regional Airport gives daily jet service and commuter access to major airports in Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and Orlando. While Amtrak makes daily stops in Downtown Normal connecting Chicago and St. Louis and cities in between, there are also more than 6 different rail freight carriers servicing the County. Bloomington/Normal is also serviced by several intercity bus companies as well as the Bloomington/ Normal Public Transit system and Illinois State University’s Night ride within the cities.
