Bloomington/Normal does not lack for Educational Facilities. Illinois State University founded as the first public university in Illinois was known as a teaching school in 1857 and is still a premier institute for educating teachers as it celebrates its 150th anniversary. Along with its reputation for training teachers it has been named one of the nation’s best choices for earning an MBA. The 2007 edition of Best 282 Business Schools, published by Princeton Review has added Illinois State to its list due out in October. Along with the honor, ISU is proud to show off its new state of the art College of Business building. The university is known for its big school quality in a small school setting. Illinois State has student population just under 21,000.


Illinois Wesleyan is a private institution with a student teacher ratio of 12 to 1. Founded in 1850 it has grown over the years to a current enrollment of over 2100 students. IWU has seen the recent growth in the building of the Ames Library, the Center for Natural Science and the Shirk Center. The university has 3 main areas of study: the College of Liberal Arts including 17 academic areas; the College of Fine Arts which includes the school of Art, the school of Music and the school of Theater Arts; and the School of Nursing.


Lincoln College in Normal is a private 4 year residential college that boasts a national reputation for academic achievement. It offers small class sizes, structured tutoring and modern living and learning environments. Having a low student teacher ratio of 14:1 with around 550 students provides an environment for academic success and a well rounded education.

Lincoln College - Normal offers the following degrees: Associate in Arts and Science degrees and Bachelor degrees in Liberal Arts, Business Management, Criminal Justice Studies, and Tourism, Sport, and Hospitality Management.  In October 2007 the Accelerated Bridge to Education (ABE) program was launched which offers a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Business Management.  The ABE program allows students to complete a class in 5 weeks with the potential to earn 27 credit hours in one calendar year.  Lincoln College took root in 1865 in Lincoln, Illinois, with the Normal Campus establishing itself in 1979 carrying with it a rich history and a modern feel all in one institution

Founded in 1991, Heartland Community College is a two-year institution with its main campus located in Normal. With an enrollment of over 4,600 students, it boasts a student/teacher ratio of 19 to 1. Heartland Community College is second to none in state of the art classrooms and technology. At Heartland Community College students may pursue 15 different Transfer Degrees or 27 different Certificate programs. Heartland also offers a wide variety of Community Education courses and houses the Workforce Development Center giving assistance to students, alumni and community residents seeking employment, as well as area employers seeking qualified employees.
