graphicVeterans Park District serves Melrose Park. The Sports Museum and Multi-Sports Complex is located on 24th Avenue and is open seven days a week. The complex has a racquetball court and health club complete with treadmills, stair climbers, weight machines, free weights, tanning bed and massage therapy. Batting cages are located on the property outdoors.

The park district offers programs for preschoolers through seniors. Programs include arts & crafts, dance, senior clubs such as the walking club, dog obedience courses, garden clinics, and athletics such as football, soccer, baseball, in-line hockey and swimming.

The After-School Rec Center, available for youths ages 12-16, features video and table games, television, music and teen programs. Also, an open gym for all children hosts games, tournaments and contests.

Many parks dot the neighborhoods. Swimming lessons, pool parties, synchronized swimming and lifeguard training are offered at Leo Memorial Pool in Melrose Park. Residents also may use Gouin Park Pool in nearby Franklin Park.graphic

The Melrose Park Public Library, established in 1898, provides an array of services and materials. Programs include Book & A Movie, Teen Book Club, Summer Reading Club and Job Hunting Online.
