Mokena schools are ranked among the best in the state. Most children attend the schools of Mokena School District 159 (Mokena Elementary School, Mokena Intermediate School, and Mokena Junior High School). A portion of Mokena students attend Frankfort School District 157C, New Lenox Elementary School District 122, and Summit Hill School District 161.
Mokena is also served by Lincoln-Way Community High School, which opened its doors in 1954 with an initial enrollment of 290 students. In the fall of 2001, following a multi-million dollar upgrade, Lincoln-Way High School became two separate high schools — Lincoln-Way Central High School (in nearby New Lenox) and Lincoln-Way East High School (in nearby Frankfort). Today, over 5,200 students attend Lincoln-Way’s two campuses.
Private education options in Mokena include St. Mary’s Catholic School and the Noonan Academy, which offers classes for children from three years old through 8th grade.
