At least 15 hospitals and outpatient facilities are within reach of Mokena. With hospitals in Chicago Heights and Olympia Fields, St. James Hospital and Health Centers provide advanced cardiac and cancer services, a Level I Trauma Center, and a wide range of programs and services that respond to community needs.

Through the ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration, St. James has delivered high-quality healthcare for more than 90 years. The Sisters also coordinate operations of the St. James Community Health Center of Mokena on LaGrange Road, offering internal medicine, pediatrics, open MRI, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, and diabetes care and education.

Silver Cross Hospital, with a 304-bed acute care unit and a Specialty Care Pavilion housing an innovative cardiovascular center, is located minutes away from Mokena on the east side of Joliet between Route 6 and Route 30. By 2007, Silver Cross will invest $25 million to double the size of the emergency department to 46,000 sq. ft. with 26 private treatment rooms, 6 dedicated observation beds, expanded diagnostic and reception facilities, and a high-tech, hotel-like 35-bed unit for surgical patients.

Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, located in nearby Joliet, provides many advanced healthcare services typically found in a university hospital setting. The Center has been part of the community for more than 120 years, and continues to carry out the mission of its dedicated founding Sisters to set the highest standard of medical care for the community.

The St. Joseph Heart Center is an entire floor dedicated solely to the treatment of the heart, which is centered on the area’s only open-heart surgery program. From three state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs to the cardiovascular operating rooms, all the way through to the cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation gymnasium, the Saint Joseph heart team offers patients an advanced level of care that’s unprecedented in the region.

In addition, the 517-bed Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center serves the community’s wide range of healthcare needs through its Sister Theresa Cancer Care Center, Level II Emergency/Trauma Center, Family Birthing Suites, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Rehabilitation Services, Mental Health Services, Sleep Disorder Center, and Retina Center.
