Northwest Community Hospital of Arlington Heights is proud to be one of only three percent of healthcare organizations in the nation to earn Magnet status, designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Here’s more about what this award means to the hospital–and especially to you. It's the highest level of recognition nursing services can receive.

The Magnet Recognition Program® was developed by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, to recognize healthcare organizations that provide the very best in nursing care. Magnet status is awarded to hospitals that exhibit exemplary patient outcomes and satisfaction, have impressive nurse-patient ratios and attract and retain the best staff from all disciplines. To date, only three percent of the 6,000 hospitals in the nation hold this prestigious designation. Northwest Community is honored to be one of them.

To earn Magnet status, organizations must apply and undergo a multi-faceted evaluation. They must also submit extensive documentation on how they meet Magnet standards. The process is thorough and lengthy, takes a minimum of 18 months to complete and includes extensive on-site evaluations and interviews with our staff, physicians and patients. To ensure that Magnet hospitals continue to perform among the elite in the nursing field, they must reapply for this designation every four years and provide updates annually.

In March 2007, Northwest Community Hospital earned the distinction of being classified as a 2006 Thomson 100 Top Hospitals®: National Benchmarks for Success winner.

Alexian Brothers Medical Center is a 320-bed community hospital located in nearby Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The hospital has more than 750 physicians on the medical staff representing over 60 medical and surgical specialties.

Alexian Brothers Medical Center has earned the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of ApprovalTM for Disease-Specific Certification as a Primary Stroke Center, in Heart Failure, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Bariatric Surgery, Joint Replacement and Oncology.

It's tough to predict what can go wrong-whether it's your son's playground injury, your spouse's flu symptoms, your grandfather's asthma or your own backyard accident. Knowing that Alexian Brothers Immediate Care Center is close to home in Mount Prospect offers peace of mind.

Founded in 1961, Holy Family Medical Center in neighboring Des Plaines is a faith-based, long-term, acute care hospital caring for medically-complex patients, the only such hospital in Northwest Chicagoland. Holy Family specializes in providing care for patients who are critically ill with complex conditions and must be hospitalized an extended period. Referrals can be made by calling (847) 813-3330.

Many outpatient services are also offered, including Medical Imaging, a SurgiCenter, and an Immediate Care Center. Holy Family received the 4-Star Customer Services Award for Outpatient Surgery from Professional Research Consultants.
