Mount Prospect Arts and Entertainment

There have been substantial changes to downtown Mount Prospect over the last few years. Following the adoption of the Downtown Tax Increment Finance District Strategic Plan in 1998, the Village has been working with property owners and developers to bring opportunities for living, working and shopping to Mount Prospect’s downtown area.

The Residences at Village Center, The Lofts & Shops at Village Centre, The Emerson at Village Center and Founders Row Townhomes and recent expansions and upgrades at the library, community center and village hall are among the projects undertaken.

Downtown - Where It All Began
Mount Prospects town center is a pleasant area, bustling with activity. The downtown district has experienced significant private and public reinvestment over the past several years. Residential convenience goods are interspersed with banks, government services, restaurants and service establishments. Thanks in part to an award-winning facade improvement program and streetscaping, the town center has become a popular place for pedestrians, shoppers and businesses.

The commuter rail station, where nearly 2000 Mount Prospect area residents gather each morning and evening, is a well-known focal point. The addition of townhomes and luxury condominiums in the town center is an exciting new trend for Mount Prospect, furthering the Village’s vision of a mixed-use downtown.

Mount Prospect Public Library - The path to success begins at your library
We welcome you to the Mount Prospect Public Library—both in-person and virtual! MPPL is open 78 hours a week, seven days a week, but we’re open 24/7 for those who would like to visit online at www.mppl.org. The Library is located at the corner of Main Street and Central Road in the heart of downtown.

Library cards are free to all residents living within the Village limits. Having a MPPL card gives you access to a goldmine of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs, and reflects the diversity of the community it serves.

Have a question? MPPL’s staff will help you find the answer—whether the information you need is on the shelf or online! You can also call MPPL with your questions or use “My Web Librarian” or e-mail a question online at www.mppl.org. MPPL also offers WiFi, a wireless network that can be used anywhere in the building. Those with an MPPL card may use the online resources from wherever there is Web access—home, office, or the local coffee shop! Enjoy. Looking for a “storytime” for youngsters? Want to join a book discussion or learn how to use E-mail? Programs and activities are available for all ages, and Preview, MPPL’s newsletter, is mailed to every home in town. Call the Registration Desk at 847-253-5675 or visit us at www.mppl.org for more information.
