Naperville Police and Fire Services

Naperville’s citizens are protected and served by one of the nation’s best public safety departments. Both the police and fire departments are fully accredited, making Naperville one of only four communities in the world that can claim that distinction. No other city in the United States has fully-accredited police, fire, and telecommunications departments.

Police Services
Naperville can claim the lowest crime rate for a city its size in America, thanks to a 181-officer police force whose crime prevention and community education efforts include:
• Safety Town/Officer Friendly programs
• Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)
• Violence Education and Gang Awareness (VEGA)
• Gang Resistance Education And Training (GREAT)
• Crime prevention through environmental design
• Neighborhood Watch/Business Watch and
personal safety programs
• Crime Stoppers
• A community gang prevention team, now
in its 11th year

Fire Services

Fire Services
The city has nine fire stations in key locations throughout the community and 187 full-time firefighters (more than half of whom are also licensed paramedics), eight front-line engines, six front-line paramedic ambulances, three front-line ladder trucks, and two front-line district commander vehicles. The department provides fire and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
