Dining in Northbrook

Dining in Northbrook

Putting a new twist on the regular dinner out, Northbrook restaurants are mixing food and entertainment with flair. Delicious foods, some cooked in front of guests “hibachi-style,” are coupled with live music and fun sports and pastimes. Now, instead of the rushed pattern we have all come to know, diners have the option to enjoy a vibrant night on the town under one roof.

Looking for a little more interaction? Then head over to the newest Northbrook hotspot, Pinstripes. Described as “sophisticated fun” by Dale Schwartz, founder and CEO of Pinstripes, the newly opened 45,000 square-foot indoor/ outdoor venue provides an alternative to the dining and entertainment experience. Enjoy a decadent dish of pasta at their Italian/American bistro, and afterwards, head over to the facility’s extensive 18-lane bowling alley or the six-court bocce area to put those skills to the test amongst friends, family or coworkers.

For those looking for a little music in the background to go with his or her savory dish, several eateries in Northbrook and surrounding communities offer just that. Allgauer’s at the Riverfront not only offers award-winning food in a comfortable, sophisticated environment; it also provides a treat for the ears with live jazz ensemble performances.

Pete Miller’s

Rock, blues and a number of other music styles can also be found at the Hanson Brothers Tavern, with live performances every Wednesday through Saturday night and the Landmark Inn, hosting live bands every Friday and Saturday night.

Diners can also ride over to nearby Wheeling for Pete Miller’s notable jazz line-up every night. Well-known artists including Jimmy Smith, Kurt Elling, Stanley Turrentine and Angel Melendez among many others have all graced the stage at the thriving restaurant. The nearby establishment of Don Roth’s Blackhawk headlines live musicians in its Outdoor Garden Patio from June through October.

festival

Many Northbrook residents enjoy easy acces to the Ravinia Festival, one of the oldest outdoor music parks in the region. Situated a mere seven miles northeast of Northbrook in Highland Park, the Ravinia Festival attracts 600,000 people to its nearly 150 events and its array of delightful dining options. Take pleasure in the fine dining of the Park View Restaurant or Mirabelle, or opt for a more casual take on eating at Le Café or The Gatehouse. Patrons can also peruse through a wide variety of foods at The Park Market, teeming with products ideal for the perfect picnic in the park. And make sure to grab a sweet treat at the Carousel Ice Cream Shop.
