
The Northbrook Park District manages more than 500 acres of parks and playgrounds and offers an estimated 1,300 recreational programs and activities for children and adults in the community.
From art classes, basketball and breakfast with Santa to volleyball, a winter carnival and yoga, the park district has it all. Among the offerings are baseball, computer instruction, fencing, fishing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, martial arts, pilates, scuba diving, skateboarding, soccer, swimming, tennis, yoga, volleyball and much more.
Facilities include the Ed Rudolph Velodrome, the award- winning Northbrook Theatre, the Sports Center Ice Rinks and Pool, Anetsberger Golf Course, Teams Challenge Course and Northbrook Climbing Tower. From the spectacular Meadowhill Aquatic Center to the newly renovated Sportsman’s Golf Course and the extraordinary new Techny Prairie Park and Fields, the Park District offers something for all ages, interests and abilities.
The Velodrome sees a lot of action since it was completely resurfaced in 2005. With its new track, residents enjoy Friday night races from June through August.
The Friday night races are sponsored by George Garner Cyclery, the Northbrook Bike Club, the Northbrook Park District and others. “Our Development Racing Series are great,” says Garner. “It’s a wonderful program and we get everything from little kids racing on tricycles on up.”
The district also offers a plethora of special events that are scheduled during the course of the year including:

• Annual Figure-Skating Competition, Holiday Skating Recital and Northbrook-On-Ice

• Weekly Park Fest outdoor concerts at Village Green in June and July, with food service

Park amenities include baseball diamonds, basketball courts, football and soccer fields, playgrounds, golf, miniature golf and much, much more.
The district also offers several buildings and facilities for residents such as a the Anetsberger Golf Course, Leisure Center, Senior Center, Northbrook Theatre, Meadowhill Aquatic Center/ Meadowhill Park, Sports Center, Sportsman’s Country Club, Techny Prairie Park and Fields, Village Green and Wood Oaks Green.
