Progressive and fast-growing Community Unit School District 300 is one of the 12 largest districts in Illinois and supplies students and their families with conveniently located elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Northern Kane County.

The award-winning school district implements curriculum that ensures both academic and personal achievement for its students. District staff members create learning environments, which encourage students to reach their potential and become self-directed learners and responsible citizens. A community of active parent groups, highly educated teachers and administrators, and enthusiastic students make a powerful combination, which results in an exceptional educational experience for all.

Community Unit School District 300, with its main offices at 300 Cleveland Avenue in Carpentersville, serves approximately 17,194 students living in an area that covers 188 square miles, including the villages of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, and Gilberts.

Elementary curriculum focuses on language arts, math, and citizenship, with fourth and fifth graders gaining increased knowledge and skills in science and social studies. Music instruction, programs for gifted students, and physical education are available to elementary students.

graphicMiddle school students continue studying the essentials, while signing up for elective courses beginning in the sixth grade and enjoying extracurricular activities suited to their interests. During seventh and eighth grade, the students are eligible to sign up for interscholastic sports teams.

At Dundee-Crown High School, students enroll in a wide variety of academic courses, advanced placement courses, technical training, and occupational classes.

The school coordinates its teaching efforts with staff from Elgin Community College, offering students an opportunity to take college-level, accredited academic and vocational courses during their regular school day. The high school also fields a full roster of girls' and boys' sports teams and sponsors an array of extracurricular clubs and organizations designed to interest high school students.

Area parents also have access to nearly 30 private daycare centers and preschools, three parochial elementary schools, and Summit School for Exceptional Children in East Dundee. Private and parochial high schools are located in Elgin and neighboring towns to the east.
