City officials and the Northlake Chamber of Commerce have orchestrated continuous economic growth by expanding industrial parks and improving services, insuring success for future generations. Among the latest projects is the development of the Centerpoint Corporate Center on North Avenue, which runs through the heart of the City. The facilities at Centerpoint will be an important piece of the citys future economic development, attracting new businesses and providing many jobs. Civic and business leaders in Northlake meet regularly with organizations seeking to relocate to the city. Economic development teams provide the expertise needed to accommodate both the city and business partners in planned growth. A significant percentage of Northlake workers commute to Chicago, while the remainder work in the community and its surrounding neighbors. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reported that the total resident labor force and the number of persons employ-ed increased over the past decade while the unemployment rate has decreased to new low levels. While many towns have faded in the second half of the 20th century, Northlake continues to thrive and expand; serving the economic and social needs of its diverse, hardworking population. It is easy to see why so many business success stories begin right here in Northlake.
