Holding the public trust in highest esteem, these local officials provide first rate service and professional security for Northlake. It is an ideal place to live, work and raise a family. The Northlake Police Department exemplifies integrity and ethical behavior and works hand-in-hand with community leaders to provide a safe environment for all. It has established the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Program (C.O.P.P.S.) for one-on-one community cooperation in crime prevention. Other N.P.D. involvement includes Neighborhood Watch for neighborhood security; D.A.R.E. and V.E.G.A., which provide educational programs for young people to teach them how to resist drugs, violence and gangs; and BLOCK HOME, which provides parents throughout the city a safe haven in emergencies and assists in child fingerprinting and record keeping for parents. Through proactive involvement with civic leaders, parents and children, the N.P.D. maintains the security of all citizens in Northlake. The Northlake Fire Protection District, formed and incorporated in 1941, has 17 full-time personnel, 15 paid-on-call personnel and six Paramedics. The department is manned 24 hours a day and operates one
aerial ladder truck, two engines, one ambulance, one crew cab, one fire
prevention automobile and chief automobile.
