Opportunities for recreation and entertainment abound in the NSACI area. There are more than 120 local parks, 40 golf courses, approximately 4,080 acres of forest preserve land with hiking and riding trails, and a number of community centers and public recreational facilities. Local park districts schedule classes in a variety of areas for all ages. Other recreational facilities in the area include Schaumburg Park District Waterworks and Busse Woods Nature Preserve.
The northwest suburbs also have a thriving cultural community. The Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts exhibits works from nationally known artists; it also stages a variety of performances — from dance to theater. Other cultural outlets in the area include the Dunton Gallery and Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights and William Rainey Harper College in Palatine.
There are numerous options for family fun and nightlife activities. Schaumburg Flyers minor league baseball games are held during the summer at Alexian Field. Other area attractions include Arlington Park Racecourse in Arlington Heights and LaserQuest in Arlington Heights.
