In addition to the quality healthcare provided through area physicians, dentists, chiropractors and other healthcare specialists, residents have access to the highly rated Oak Forest Hospital, which is located on a 340-acre campus at 15900 S. Cicero Avenue. Oak Forest Hospital is a 70-bed facility specializing in general acute medical care and rehabilitation services. The facility has been praised for its innovations and has been upheld as a model in the fields of geriatrics and chronic disease hospitalization.
Oak Forest Hospital’s inpatient services include long-term intermediate/ supportive care, skilled nursing care, sub-acute care, comprehensive rehabilitation and acute care units. Specialty programs include ventilator, palliative and AIDS units, brain injury rehabilitation, pain management and vocational services. This hospital was one of the first to establish a program for ventilator- dependent individuals.
As a specialty hospital, Oak Forest complements the care services of Cook County Hospital and the community services of Provident Hospital. It is closely affiliated with three suburban clinics operated by the Ambulatory and Community Health Network, and houses Oak Forest Ambulatory Center specialty clinics, with specialties including podiatry, eye care and wound care.
Further hospitals providing health services in the area include Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights and St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island. Ingalls Health Systems operates community-based treatment centers throughout the southwest suburbs as well.
