The kids of the area revel in the opportunities provided through the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn. The museum opened its doors within its current 900-square-foot facility in 2003, and soon became a fixture in the learning community. In addition to its nine interactive exhibit areas (eight permanent and one changing) are great educational programs and a calendar year of special events. The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn will be moving into its new structure soon, which is located within the Oak Lawn train station complex. This move will result in a massive expansion of the museum’s offerings and spaces. The new museum will span 12,000 square feet of exhibit space over two floors. A number of interactive exhibits will be presented, with some highlights including an art studio, police station, firehouse, market and café, construction area and a treehouse.

If a night of comedy is your thing, make sure to visit the Barrel of Laughs Comedy Club, which showcases outstanding local and nationwide talent every Wednesday through Sunday night. This musical-theatre troupe offers four great performances each year as part of its regular season, along with several children’s theatre productions. The theatre’s affordable and entertaining performances are held at the Oak View Community Center.
